Wooden City 2035
Wood has to be used in construction in order to achieve a sustainable circular future but the question is whether the whole supply chain is up to this task. In order to make the transition to a sustainable future we envision a city made of circular wood in 2035. Wood is a sustainable alternative to substitute carbon intensive materials and can function as a carbon pool. By-products of the wood chain are not treated as waste but are used as high grade products. To create a wooden city in 2035 we are going to link stakeholders of the wood supply chain. With this expert group of stakeholders questions, knowledge gaps and new innovative ideas will be exposed. Together we will work to solutions leading to a wooden city. Stakeholders will range from tree nurseries and foresters to construction and demolition companies, giving a whole system perspective. By including all stakeholders, views can be combined in realising a circular and sustainable wood chain. The wooden city will have an exemplary function and help society with the desired missing knowledge in realising such a sustainable and circular city.
