Anouk Gijbels is a post-doctoral researcher working on precision nutrition for cardiometabolic health in the Nutrition, Metabolism and Genomics group.

From 2017-2023, Anouk performed her PhD project at the same group. In close collaboration with Maastricht University, she performed the PERSON study, one of the first randomised clinical trials in the field of precision nutrition to test effects of a more personalised dietary intervention on cardiometabolic health outcomes. The results of this trial suggest that precision nutrition based on metabolic phenotype may provide superior health benefits to general dietary guidelines.

Before joining the NMG group as a PhD candidate, Anouk obtained her BSc degree (cum laude) in Health Sciences from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2015 and her MSc degree (cum laude) in Nutrition and Health from Wageningen University in 2017. During her MSc, she performed her research internship at the Diabetes and Metabolism Research Group at Maastricht University.
