Assessment of post-harvest losses by rodents

Asia has the highest undernourishment globally with an estimated amount of over 280 million people suffering from hunger. Although Asia has the largest share of cereal production with rice as one of its most important food crops, pre- and post-harvest losses are part of the underlaying problems causing undernourishment. Many undernourished would profit from reduction of grain harvest losses by rodents, as rodents cause a loss of approximately 11 kg food per person per year. Little quantitative data on post-harves losses of cereals due to rodents is available.
