BIOCHAR - Climate saving soils

Biochar is a byproduct of the pyrolysis. It is a stable form of carbon which supposedly has a large number of positive characteristics for the soil.

Biochar is a byproduct of the pyrolysis. It is a stable form of carbon which supposedly has a large number of positive characteristics for the soil. The use of biochar can result in the achievement of the objective to store carbon long-term in the soil and the objective to maintain or even improve the soil fertility. However, the support for these claims are often weak. Therefore, this project examines the effect of biochar made from prunings, on crop production and soil quality.

The project is part of an Interreg project, more information is available at the Interreg website.
