Cultivation above the ground: blueberry

In order to meet policy objectives, it is important to minimise the emission of nutrients and pesticides in the cultivation of blueberries. In addition, the increased competition on the global market for blueberries makes it necessary to reduce costs and improve the quality.

Therefore, the goal of this project is to develop a profitable innovative cultivation system for blueberries, which contributes to the minimisation of the emission of nutrients and pesticides.
Features of this system are:

  • the substrate cultivation is above the ground, adapted to the cultivation of blueberries
  • a higher fruit quality, especially a sufficient large fruit size
  • a lower cost price through efficient utilisation of the ground surface
  • reducing the foundation period
  • increased production
  • a higher degree of mechanisation of the harvest
