The current production systems for flower bulbs cannot meet the stringent future emission water quality standards for minerals and pesticides.
Growing out of the soil is one of the possible solutions to this problem.The aim of the project is the development of a bulb cultivation system with minimum emission of nutrients and pesticides and maximum returns for the entrepreneur. In concrete terms, the aim is to reduce the leaching of nitrogen and phosphate by 70% as compared to the current production systems. First results show that the new cultivation systems have a higher yield than is possible in soil. The quality of the bulbs was predominantly in the well.
