De potentiële meerwaarde van de agrarische en toeristische sector voor de ontwikkeling van krimp- en anticipeergebieden

The purpose of this study is to investigate to what extent agriculture and tourism contribute to maintaining or strengthening the economy in the declining regions Northeast-Groningen, Zeeuws-Vlaanderen and the South of Limburg.

The potential opportunities for agriculture and tourism that shrinkage can offer will also be investigated.

The most important opportunity that shrinkage can provide for agriculture is the reduced pressure of space. A possibility is to use this to reallocate the non-intensive agriculture. For recreation reduced pressure of the space also means there are opportunities. There are also opportunities to improve the spatial quality due to lower prices. Agriculture has little effect on shrinkage and is little affected by it. Recreation facilities can  have a dampening effect on the effects of shrinkage.
