Developing a vaccine against AHS

African Horse Sickness (AHS) is a serious, rapidly developing horse disease.

The disease can be transmitted by Culicoides spp (biting midges) or other midges. The Netherlands, with a horse population of approximately 400.000, has one of the highest horse densities in the world. An outbreak of this disease would be difficult to control without a vaccine. At this moment there is no safe AHS-vaccine available. The goal of this project is to develop a vaccine against AHS.
