With the banning of soil fumigants and the regulation of Monam for many growers it is not possible to remediate soil diseases in difficult contamination situations.
Therefore alternative, environmentally friendly methods are desirable.
Organic Soil Fumigation (BGO) is used, but the effect is not understood. When the mechanism will be understood, the method can be developed and used. A further developed BGO reduces dependence on chemical soil fumigation and may be a solution in situations without alternatives.
Goals of this project are:
- Determination of the mechanism of BGO using defined fermentation products (advanced BGO).
- Determine under what conditions BGO effective against harmful organisms, taking account of the practice financially viable solutions.
