EU project BIOECONOMY

BioMonitor is an EU Horizon 2020 project which plans to establish a sustainable statistics and modelling framework for the bioeconomy.

Given the lack of information and statistics on emerging innovative bio-based industries, the BioMonitor framework enables different stakeholders to monitor and measure the bioeconomy and its economic, environmental and social impacts in the EU and Member States. The project works in a three-fold approach by:

  • Closing the data gaps observed when measuring the bioeconomy by using new and improved datasets;
  • Enhancing existing modelling tools that guide industries and policymakers in defining long-term strategies;
  • Creating a stakeholder engagement platform and training modules to validate and disseminate the data and modelling framework developed by the BioMonitor project.

First BioMonitor Stakeholder Workshop

Brussels - 23 October 2018

BioMonitor engages in a dialogue with bio-based stakeholders to identify relevant indicators and drivers of the bioeconomy.

The project will have its first workshop catered to stakeholders coming from international business and public sectors. BioMonitor will collect their input to comprehend their needs prior to developing an effective and robust data and modelling framework for the bioeconomy.
