The Dutch Ministry of EL&I is responsible for the designation of 162 Natura-2000 areas in the Netherlands to the European Commission. After registration an official description has to be made of the boundaries of the territories and the establishment of area-specific conservation objectives, both in terms of habitat types as (bird) species. After publication of the draft designation decisions earlier, now the final designation decisions are established.
In this project Alterra, part of Wageningen UR, offers support in finalizing the draft designation decisions of 162 Natura 2000 areas. In 2011, the texts of 34 definitive designation decisions were made.
