The plant parasitic nematodes Pratylenchus penetrans and Meloidogyne hapla can cause much damage to the propagation of strawberry plants and later in the production field.
Upon detection of these nematodes and exceeded the testing standards, the plant material is destroyed. This means a huge loss and has consequences for the export position of this plant material.
The goal of this project is to effectively combat the nematodes P. penetrans and M.hapla by Controlled Atmosphere (CA)-treatment of the plant material. Initially the effect of different CA heat treatments on these parasitic nematodes will be studied.
