Food in healthcare institutions

Among elderly in health care, obesity- or overweight-related diseases like heart disease and type 2 diabetes are relatively common. This results in high government spending and high public costs.

The ministry responsible for healthcare wondered whether these high cost could be reduced by providing sustainable and healthy meals in healthcare institutions. A pilot study in the elderly care yielded positive results.

The goal of this project is to get insight into the financial situation and the client’s health in the elderly care. Based on this, sustainable and affordable meal concepts can be introduced that contribute to an improved quality of live for these elderly.
