Research

Ethiopia and other developing countries are nowadays being considered business partners and investment destinations. Accordingly, the number of Multinational Corporations (MNCs) operating in Ethiopia is increasing from time to time. While this can be seen as an opportunity for economic development, the operations of multinationals should be socially and environmentally sustainable. Hence, this study aims to assess innovation competencies and sustainability practice  of  MNCs  when operating in a developing country context, specifically Ethiopia.

Tentative research questions

  1. According to the literature, what innovation competencies are required by MNCs to be socially and environmentally sustainable when operating in a developing country context?
  2. In the eyes of experts, what sustainability competencies are crucial for MNCs operating in a developing country context to be socially and environmentally sustainable?
  3. How socially sustainable are MNCs operating in Ethiopia?
  4. To what extent are MNCs environmentally sustainable when operating in Ethiopia?
