This study aims to assess innovation competencies and sustainability practice of MNCs when operating in a developing country context, specifically Ethiopia.
Until March 2015, Yared Demssie had been working as a full-time lecturer in the Department of Public Administration and Development Management at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. From the same university, he received his Master’s Degree (with a master’s thesis rated ‘excellent’) in Public Administration and Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education (with Great Distinction). He also served in different administrative positions of the university including Coordinator of Undergraduate Programs.
In addition, Yared had been involved in training, consultancy, national curriculum preparation, conference organizing and research activities by collaborating with national and international organizations. These include: Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency-SIDA, Korea International Cooperation Agency- KOICA, Kilimanjaro International, Globelics, National Curriculum Harmonization Committee, National Examination Agency and Cactus Communications.
Ethiopia and other developing countries are nowadays being considered business partners and investment destinations. Accordingly, the number of Multinational Corporations (MNCs) operating in Ethiopia is increasing from time to time. While this can be seen as an opportunity for economic development, the operations of multinationals should be socially and environmentally sustainable. Hence, this study aims to assess innovation competencies and sustainability practice of MNCs when operating in a developing country context, specifically Ethiopia.
