Project

Insect jewelry

Caddis flies live as larvae in the water. Part of the family of caddis flies build houses in the most various forms and from different materials.

Due to the natural forms of these constructions the public really likes them. Experimental studies have demonstrated that caddis flies can be stripped of their house, and then they build a new home with other material that is offered.

The goal of this project is to develop a simple and sustainable farming technique whereby insects and other invertebrates are urged to produce jewelry. Also a pilot to produce jewelry will be held. The jewelry produced will be shown at several exhibitions.
