This project is important to react on policy questions fastly and properly, and aims at an effective and efficient use of international data sets in LEI research.
The concerning data sets are used for many projects for LNV. The regionalisation of the agricultural and rural policy and the interaction with other policy areas make these data and metadata of great importance.
The project covers the accessibility (by collecting, harmonising, managing and advising) of international data and metadata. The main aims are maintaining the links between the different divisions in regions and products used in European data sets (REGIO and Eurofarm (Farm Structure Survey and Standard Gross Margins) of Eurostat and FADN of DG-Agri) and the documentation of this information in the document/user guide Regional EU-data_Documentationmap.doc. Since 2008 this project provides FAO data sets in MetaBase. Another aim is to provide metadata of international data sets (for example OECD and European Commission) in an overview and links to existing websites and documents. This by an optimal use of the structure and functionalities of the MetaBase system to make available data and metadata.
For 2009 a new aim is included in the project plan:
- monthly update of Eurostat data and metadata (for example classifications) in MetaBase.
The availability of international data sets, as well as the link between the different divisions in regions and products used in these data sets, and subsequent to this the supply of information on the content and use of it.
The result of this project is the accessibility of European and other international data sets, as well as the link between the different divisions in regions and products used in these data sets, and subsequent to this the supply of information on the content and use of it.This results among other things in the document/user guide Regional EU-data_Documentationmap.doc, the availability of Eurostat and FAO data sets in MetaBase, in an overview of international data sets available for LEI research and in the (partial) availability of this information in MetaBase.
