A better utilization of manure in maize growing may be possible by a precise row application of the manure before planting. This precise application is becoming feasible in practice by using GPS information on the placement of the manure.
This information facilitates an improved positioning of maize seeds afterwards. Field experiments are conducted to measure the effect of the precise manure placement on yields and the utilization of nutrients. The intended result of this project is a broad adoption of the use of alternative techniques of dispensing that increases the utilization of minerals from manure, prevents mineral losses, the by growers desired use of manure can be maintained as much as possible and prevents yield reductions in maize.
