The Standing Committee on Agricultural Research (SCAR) has representatives from all EU member states. The committee advices the European Commission and member states on the coordination of research in agriculture.
Since 2005 this task was extended from advising all EU member states to advising candidate member states and associated countries as well (37 in total). Apart from research the SCAR also discusses matters regarding supporting knowledge services, extension work, advisory systems, training and education. Krijn Poppe (LEI Wageningen UR) was co-chair of the SCAR Strategic Working Group on Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS-3) from 2013 until 2015. Floor Geerling-Eiff and Trond Selnes (LEI Wageningen UR) worked together with the strategic working group on the foresight study Anticipating the future: scenarios for resilient institutions in agricultural research and innovation.
