For potatoes and vegetables grown on sand and loess soil, the nitrogen (N) donation a farmer should give from an economic prospective surpass the N-donation justified for nitrate leaching.
This project provides documented assumptions and results of scenario calculations that indicate under what conditions and measures outdoor cropping on sand and loess soils is environmental justified. In the 4th Action Programme Nitrates Directive is announced that the 5th Action Programme maytighten the utilization of animal manure on certain crops.
Farms on light soils in particular want to know under which combinations of conditions the environmental management is garanteed for N and P losses. The scenario calculations are taken care of by Wageningen UR with the CDM-WOG model. Additionally, a study is done on the economic consequences for agriculture and horticulture.
