Stakeholder analysis new plant species in European regions

The European Union needs a better insight in the structure of the stakeholders engaged in the breeding of new crop cultivars in different regions in Europe. Furthermore, the EU aims to promote cooperation between gene banks, NGOs, breeding companies and research organizations to promote the use of crop wild relatives and landraces in breeding.

Abstract

This European project has three goals:

  • Analyzing the structure of the user communities of Plant Genetic Resources (PGR) in different parts of Europe
  • Stimulating cooperation between gene banks, NGOs, breeding and research promotion
  • Stimulating the use of crop wild relatives and landraces to develop new varieties stimulating.
The Centre for Genetic Resources, the Netherlands (CGN) is responsible for the Dutch contribution.
