Samenvatting

Veal calf farming, as well as other elements in the food system, faces many challenges. Climate change, rapidly changing revenue models and the depletion of biodiversity require action. This report evaluates a number of measures to reduce emissions. These are promising for reducing ammonia and methane emissions in veal calf barns in the short and medium term. The evaluation criteria are: Emission reduction potential (%), costs, technology readiness level, and other factors such as the ease of implementation in existing barns, space requirement on the farm, etc. In addition to this, these measures are also assessed against indicators for animal welfare and animal health.
