Samenvatting

Over the past six years, multiple institutes within Wageningen Research have collaborated on numerous studies in Indonesia, focusing on seaweed cultivation and other forms of aquaculture. Throughout the project, both economic and environmental impacts were central themes. To ensure integration within local communities and facilitate direct application of newly gained knowledge, extensive partnerships were established with local farmers. By assessing cultivation methods, food and environmental safety, and socio-economic aspects, we have achieved results that not only contributed to environmental improvement, but also enhanced the livelihoods of local communities.
