Verkenning varianten van een graslandnorm

Samenvatting
A grassland criterion is a measure for the livestock density of a dairy farm. The central question in this quick scan is about the (financial) consequences for dairy farms if they have to comply with a grassland criterion. The analysis shows that as the grassland criterion gets stricter, more farms need to take measures. At a grassland criterion of 0,4 ha of grassland per livestock unit, this is approximately 50% of the dairy farms in the Netherlands. Reducing the dairy herd is generally a more expensive measure than renting additional land, although this difference is decreasing as the costs of exporting manure off-farm and land rent increase. This quick scan compares two situations with different assumptions and starting points based on simple calculations, without using a dynamic model.
