A proper conversation of ‘phasing out’ is long overdue. Using four examples of phased-out activities (shutting down the Groningen gas field, pulse fishing, laying hen battery cages and mink farming), we discuss insights on the role of governance and justice dimensions in phase-out trajectories. Our aim is to provide food for thought to encourage a conversation about justice considerations in phase-out trajectories.
