Argentine minister signs agreement with Wageningen UR

Argentina and the Netherlands are to set up a virtual center for biomass research together. The Argentine minister of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, Lino Barañao, signed a 'Letter of Intent for the creation of a virtual Argentine - Dutch Binational Centre on Biomass' on Wednesday, April 17. Aalt Dijkhuizen, Chairman of the Board, signed on behalf of Wageningen UR (University & Research centre). A working group will spend the next five months further developing the plans.

The Minister was in Wageningen on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 April. Accompanied by Ing. Agr. Agueda Menvielle, Director Internal Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology and an embassy employee, he visited, among others, the facilities of the Plant Sciences Group of Wageningen UR, AlgaePARC and the research institute Wageningen UR Food & Biobased Research.

Within the Binational Centre on Biomass, research projects where research scientists from the Netherlands and Argentina work together will be set, researchers will be exchanged and joint training activities will be organised.
