Liberation scholarship programme for Canadian students

The Liberation Scholarship Program offers 70 scholarships to highly motivated students from Canada who would like to study in the Netherlands for three to twelve months and become part of the long-standing historic ties between the two countries. The scholarship is a maximum contribution of €5000, - per student.

To celebrate seventy years of liberation and honour the sacrifices Canadian soldiers made for our freedom, the Netherlands launches the Liberation Scholarship Program, as a token of lasting gratitude and friendship.

Wageningen University would like to use the Liberation Scholarship Programme to strengthen the relationship with our Canadian partner institutes. The best students in the mobility programmes with our Canadian partners will be nominated for this programme. Wageningen University will choose the best candidate out of the list of mobility students from both partner institutes.

Application form:

The liberation scholarship programme is not an open application programme. It is not possible to apply for this scholarship programme. Wageningen University will nominate students based upon the list of mobility students from our Canadian partner institutes.


Wageningen University will nominate a number of candidates to EP-Nuffic/ Royal Netherlands Embassy in Canada. EP-Nuffic and the Royal Netherlands Embassy will make a selection based upon (at least): the total number of nominations, available budget, distribution amongst the Canadian institutes, etc.


Wageningen University will submit a list of nomination by the end of October 2015. The selection outcome is expected by the end of November 2015. The mobility need to take place between 2015-2017.
