Changing Gender Roles: Women, Livelihoods and Post-Conflict Challenges in Nepal

The project will analyse how do changing gender roles impact women (Maoist ex-combatants and non-combatants) possibilities to face post-conflict livelihoods challenges in Nepal. Further, it will examine how conflict-related shifts in gender roles translate, or fail to translate, into livelihood capacities.

The research will be conducted  in severely conflict affected rural areas of Nepal with presence of ex combatants. The analytical framework for this study combines concepts from gender, livelihoods and post-conflict studies. Multi-sited ethnography (case studies, key informant interviews, participation observation, focus group discussions and mapping) will be implemented for data gathering.
