With this movie talk, we discuss ‘the old’ and ‘the new normal’. Not in the context of the corona pandemic – that introduced this phrasing – but in the light of biodiversity loss. “Normal is Over” is a documentary that highlights responses to climate change, biodiversity loss, the depletion of critical natural resources and income equality. It stresses the need for change, but also opens the discussion for solutions. Filmmaker Renée Scheltema and WUR program leader biodiverse environment Reinier Hille Ris Lambers invite you to discuss the value of biodiversity and to imagine new and needed (financial and economic) paradigms. Because if anything, the new normal requires a good conversation and listening to each other. And a nice movie from time to time.
With CineScience movie talks, researchers from Wageningen University & Research give unique and accessible insights in their scientific work by linking it creatively to a personally selected movie or documentary.
WUR considers its connection with the city of Wageningen and its residents extremely important and is eager to show that everyone actually deals with the themes being researched and developed in Wageningen during everyday lives.
