Contribution of the land-use sector

REDD+, the voluntary climate mitigation approach for forests, has triggered a series of actions, initiatives and funds at national and international level. Still the forest and agricultural sector follow separate tracks in their efforts to achieve climate goals, although they are interlinked and could benefit from a common vision.

Wageningen University & Research scientists work with international policy advocates, practitioners and researchers on ways to enhance the land-use sector readiness for an integrated approach on climate action, while balancing different objectives at the landscape level and building on lessons learned from REDD+. Tailored strategies can enhance mitigation, adaptation and food security potential.
