On Wednesday November 13th, 2013, Geralda Hop (PhD candidate at the Business Economics Group) received the Cross Border Public Private Partnership Junior Award (CBP³) at the General Assembly of GIQS

GIQS (www.giqs.org) annually awards people who dedicate themselves to stimulating cross-border cooperation between Germany and the Netherlands in the field of research, development and science transfer within the agri-food business. Geralda was awarded this price for her outstanding research within the project SafeGuard.

The main aim of her work relates to examining potential gains and main challenges for further cross-border collaboration in contagious livestock disease management within the cross-border region of the Netherlands, North Rhine Westphalia and Lower Saxony, that is, a region with a large cross-border reliance on production and consumption of livestock commodities. It was hypothesised that further cross-border collaboration can mitigate the veterinary and economic impacts of current (routine and crisis) borders between the Netherlands and North Rhine Westphalia–Lower Saxony.
