The Dutch cutter fishing industry is innovating its fishing techniques since recent years.
These innovations aim to reduce fuel consumption. This often comes with less bottom contact of the fishing gear. Also different fishing techniques are developed to change the catch composition: in this way discards can be reduced and other commercial interesting fish species can be caught for which quota are less restricting.
