Thinking of jazz in the Netherlands, you cannot ignore Benjamin Herman. Since he was 13 years old Benjamin gives his contribution to the circuit. Benjamin Herman plays in different combinations and composed a lot of pieces. Furthermore he is the founder of the New Cool Collective. He played on more than 100 records with different artists, like Candy Dulfer and Misha Mengelberg and many more. Herman worked in a great range of projects, made movie soundtracks en travels around the world with his saxophone.
Het Benjamin Herman Trio is a close formation for years. Benjamin Herman plays with Ernst Glerum (bass) en Joost Patocka (drums). The trio mixes a wide range of different styles. They play compositions of Misha Mengelberg, Jazz Evergreens and own work. Newspaper de Volkskrant wrote about a "gentle virtuosity", describing the concerts of the trio. Every performance is an experience with guaranteed 'something to pat your foot to'.

Their youngest record with the young and special talented singer/pianist Daniel von Piekartz is a vocal continuation worth listening. Pieces of among others Fats Waller, Henry Mancini and Sly Stone get such a make-over that many listeners would miss a train for.
