Lectures and Tour for ‘Colourful Wageningen 750’ (in dutch)

On Thursday afternoon, 26 September, the Library is offering a lecture afternoon (in dutch) as part of the exhibition 'Colourful Wageningen 750'. Bob Kernkamp, Wageningen’s municipal archivist, and Leo Klep, publicist, will lecture on the rich history of Wageningen, which received city privileges in 1263.

The two are the co-authors of the book 'Geschiedenis van Wageningen' (History of Wageningen), the commemorative book that was published in 2013. After the lecture a few unique archive pieces from the Special Collections will be presented to Geert van Rumund, mayor of Wageningen, for Wageningen's municipal archive.

The afternoon will be concluded with a visit to the exhibition and drinks. The exhibition presents the history of Wageningen through unique and exceptional publications, prints, maps and photos. The exhibition comprises three themes: The water in and around Wageningen has always played an important role in the city’s history. The settlement expanded from a fortified city with buildings into a university town where people live and work in and with the green environment: nature, agriculture, and gardens and landscape.
