Not yet finished with your library book? No problem! Under a new policy WUR Library will automatically renew your materials for you at the end of the loan period.

What is automatic renewal?

The default loan period for borrowed books is 28 days. From the start of this academic year, borrowed books will automatically be renewed after 28 days. This new policy will apply to new ánd current loans.

We will automatically renew the loan period up to 10 times unless:

  • The book has been reserved by another person.
  • The item has reached its maximum number of renewals (10 times).
  • The book is an Inter Library Loan item (e.g. borrowed from another library).
  • The book is a one-day-loan item (e.g. dictionaries).

Request to return

If the book cannot be renewed, you'll get an email with a request to return your Library book within seven days. Notifications are sent to your official WUR email account. Notifications for external users are sent to their email address on record.

Goodbye unnecessary fines

Because of the auto renewal you won't have all these little fines on your Library account anymore. As a courtesy, all current Library fines will be waived! Keep in mind that when you have been requested to return a book and if you don't return it within seven days, your Library account will then be blocked, and you will not be permitted to borrow any more items.

Important

Failure to return a requested book will result in an automatic block on your Library account. If you do not respond to notices from the Library or if you do not return a requested book by the due date, you will be charged for a replacement copy and its handling costs.

Contact

At your My Library account you can check which books you currently have on loan. You can also call or mail the Library Servicedesk at 0317-486666 or use the chat on the website, if you have any questions about when your materials are due.
