PhD trip of MIB and SSB 2021: California
PhD candidates of the chair groups Laboratory of Systems and Synthetic Biology (SSB) and Laboratory of Microbiology (MIB) went on a study trip to Canada and the USA in the spring of 2013.
Every two years, PhD candidates from the Laboratories of Microbiology (MIB) and Systems & Synthetic Biology (SSB) organize an international study tour. For the 2021 edition of the PhD trip, about 30 PhD students will go abroad to the Golden State: California. Accompanied by a senior scientist we will visit companies, research institutes and universities in San Francisco, Berkeley, Los Angeles and San Diego. During this 14-day study tour we will explore the realms of science and cutting-edge research through interactive meetings, facility tours, and scientific presentations. In mini symposiums, both PhD students from MIB/SSB as well as from the visited groups will showcase their work in the form of presentations and poster pitches. We look forward to sharing knowledge, exchanging ideas and sparking fruitful discussions with the other scientists, just as well as developing important skills such as presenting and networking. Finally, as done in previous editions of the PhD trip, we will use this opportunity to establish new collaborations and strengthen existing partnerships.
