Lecture by Jan van Franeker on Wednesday October 30
How can science offer insights into the severity and extent of the plastic soup crisis in the world’s oceans? For decades, Jan van Franeker (marine biologist) has researched the amounts of plastic found in seabirds and other animals around the world to monitor regional differences and temporal changes in marine debris. Explore with him the challenge presented by the dimensions of such research. How does our knowledge - or lack of it - confound conclusions on urgency of the problems, responsibilities, priorities and effective solutions?
