When I started my bachelor thesis at Nematology I had no idea what to expect. Now, four months later, I look back at my research with a very good feeling.
I’m glad I chose to do a research thesis and not a literature research. From conducting my own research I learnt more than from all my practical courses in the past three years. Everybody at the lab was very helpful and they let me use all the available equipment. It really felt like a second home. I developed a method, based on already existing protocols, to study Orsay virus infection in different C. elegans worms. There are still some problems with this method but a few adjustments should fix this. Doing my own research was a nice experience and it also helped me understand how everything works in scientific research much better. This might help me in my choice of profession after my studies in Wageningen.
