Discussion on January 24th with dr. D. de Groot, in our series on The Future of Nature Conservation.
Series: The Future of Nature Conservation
The concept of ecosystemservices seems to become the new panacea for solving problems of nature restoration and conservation. In particular, it emphasizes that nature and biodiversity conservation can be achieved in ways that are not incompatible with economic development.
However, questions can be raised about how useful the concept of ecosystem services is in framing the Nature Conservation strategy of tomorrow. Is there a tension between conserving ecosystem services and biodiversity? And how will the concept hold in the policy arena? Discussion with Dolf de Groot.
