On December 7, 2012 Krista Engelsma defended her thesis “Use of SNP markers to conserve genome-wide genetic diversity in livestock”.
The thesis was based on her work in the past four years at CGN.At the occasion of the defence of the thesis a seminar was organized: “New opportunities for conservation genetics with genome wide information” with four contributions:
- Opportunities of genomics for conservation of animal genetic resources by Theo Meuwissen (University of Live Sciences, Aas, Norway).
- Domestication and morphological traits in Brassica by Guusje Bonnema (Wageningen UR Plant Breeding).
- The use of metabolomics approaches to mine the genetic diversity in tomato by Arnaud Bovy (Wageningen UR Plant Breeding).
- Possible impact of genome-wide information on the use of cryobank samples: a simulation study of the use of cryobank samples in a selected cattle breed by Grégoire Leroy and Michelle Tixier-Boichard (Agroparistech/INRA, Paris France).
