The attention for nutrition issues in international development received a boost after the publication of the so-called Lancet series in 2008 followed by a ‘second edition’ in June 2013. These series highlight evidence gaps which may have to lead to new ways of framing nutrition, new partnerships and new ways of training.

Lawrence Haddad will reflect on these in support of guiding the embedding of nutrition in the post-2015 research framework. Lawrence Haddad is the Director of the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex. He is an economist and his main research interests are at the intersection of poverty, food insecurity and malnutrition (Philippines, India, South Africa). He was formerly Director of the International Food Policy Research Institute’s Food Consumption and Nutrition Division (IFPRI).

He has a PhD from Stanford University.

Participation in this event is free of charge, registration is not necessary.

The Dr. Judith Zwartz Foundation enables the Division of Human Nutrition to organise each year a public lecture and a science lecture. This first science lecture has as focus one of the Division’s common research themes; ‘international nutrition’.
