Alberto started the EM-SANF programme in 2013 and graduated in 2015. He followed his courses in Denmark and Hungary. His internship and thesis were in Canada and Denmark respectively. At this moment he works as a PhD candidate in Ireland. At this page you will read about his experiences during his study.
I enrolled the EM-SANF programme because of my interest in research and animal nutrition. I started at Aarhus University (AU) in Denmark and continued at the University of Debrecen (UD) in Hungary. For my internship I was doing a research stay about probiotics for the government of Canada in Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (Sherbrooke, Quebec). I continued working on probiotics as feed additives for pigs during my master thesis, this time at Foulum AU, in a project of both the company Chr Hansen and Aarhus University. After my graduation I decided to continue doing research, so I started a PhD in animal nutrition in Ireland at Teagasc and University College of Dublin. All the high quality education in an international atmosphere was crucial to achieve my current PhD position. Besides that, living two years with people from different countries, cultures, religions and perspectives of life is something you learn from as much as from the best lecture. We will never forget all the experiences we lived together. I would define EM-SANF as a programme that is building a valuable network that will help to feed the world in a sustainable form.
