In 2010, Simone Vaccari obtained his bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering in Trento, Italy. During his studies, he started working with Remote Sensing. He enjoyed it so much that he decided to come to Wageningen University to study Geo-Information Science, in order to specialise in Remote Sensing and GIS data analysis for environmental applications.
During his master, Simone really enjoyed the international atmosphere and the wide range of courses within his field. He did his internship at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, where he worked on a paper for publication. In Wageningen, he gained working experience as a student assistant for two master courses.
After his graduation from Wageningen University in 2013, Simone has been working as a Research Associate on a collaborative project between the University of Edinburgh’s School of Geosciences and consultancy LTS International Ltd. “I really like my job; we’re a dynamic team of consultants, working to improve people’s livelihood through sustainable governance and management of natural resources in developing countries.” What Simone likes most about his job, is the balance of skills required, ranging from technical Remote Sensing and GIS data analysis to interpersonal and communicative skills.
