Tim

Alumniverhaal

Alumnus Tim Wezeman

Tim obtained the Master Molecular Life Sciences and graduated in 2012.

After finishing my master I had already obtained more than a year of ‘hardcore’ laboratory and research experience.

Nowadays, he does not live in picturesque Wageningen anymore, but in Karlsruhe, where he is working on a PhD in ‘heterocyclic organic chemistry’. The freedom and flexibility of this job is one of the major appeals for Tim. He can come up with ideas himself, can execute them and can guide students during their internships and with their theses. Because Tim works within an international project, he has got a lot of contact with other PhD- and Postdoc-students. He has a lot of meetings with them in many different countries. The project has helped him to become better acquainted with them, and this makes it easier to set up joint projects. He is currently working on a project with a chemist from Spain.

“Wageningen offers many practical skills; after finishing my master I had already obtained more than a year of ‘hardcore’ laboratory and research experience. That is very useful during job interviews, where they are always interested in what you’ve already done. Wageningen is also very internationally oriented; I, for example, did my master internship in Vancouver, and this helped me obtain my PhD position.”
