Currently I’m following the MSc Marketing Management at the Tilburg University and I currently work for Gimbrère Mode. This is a fashion retail chain with eleven stores in the south of the Netherlands.
What do you do?
At Gimbrère Mode I am responsible for marketing and communication. The most exciting thing about the job is that you are the link between the customer and the company. Together with management I decide how the communication should look and execute this into marketing plans. At the end of the day it is nice to make customers happy with their new outfits. What makes me enthusiastic about my job and MSc is the opportunity to get further in life, and make use of what I have learned to improve the overall performance of the company I am working for. At the end of a working day this is what is important to keep management happy.
Role of BTO in career development
The BTO program has definitely taught me to look at things from different perspectives. For me this is the most important aspect because I have learned that before you make an important decision you have to consider how people will react and consider all different perspectives you can think of. Most theories I have learned during my BSc and MSc are applicable but also a lot of common sense has to be put into your job. I think you should have a good combination of both. After the BTO I wanted to continue in a tourism master but I also wanted to broaden my field of knowledge. Studying marketing is applicable in every sector. That was interesting to me because it can help in finding a new job faster. I decided on a MSc Marketing Management because it suits me best. I’m very interested in economics and psychology and marketing combines the best of those two concepts.
Student LifeMy student time can be summarized as good times, definitely. Nice classmates. Impressive university buildings and great teachers, each with totally different characters of their own.
My future plans involve expanding my knowledge via extra courses. Also I would not mind to move abroad for several years. My ultimate dream would be to live and work in New York City.
