In 2013 I had a course at the laboratory, which was very short and relatively easy, although I already experienced how much the people would help me and the great atmosphere that was present.
At that time I was searching for a thesis topic and thought why not continue on this topic in and stay in this great atmosphere. Not a second I have regretted that decision, since I learned a great deal. I learned mostly by the fact that I was given the freedom to do it myself (although this might be similar to other departments); even so every single person in the lab was able to help me, for which I am very grateful. They were not only able to help me with practical applications, but also with the theoretical part of my thesis. When I was writing my thesis my supervisor Erin Bakker helped me a lot, which resulted in a very good thesis. Not to forget the break during the day were a pleasant surprise, almost every other day there was cake and there was even a whole day (and night) dedicated to a Christmas lunch/diner, which was a lot of fun!
