We are looking for
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Financial Controller for the Department of Social Sciences
Are you an expert in the field of organisational financial control who likes to have a complete overview of costs and revenues? Customer-focused, reliable, quality-driven, analytical and result-oriented: do you recognise yourself in these qualities? You may be the ‘linking pin’ we are looking for.
In this very varied position, you will be the point of contact for professors and staff heads, providing solicited and unsolicited advice. You will have primary responsibility for the financial and economic accounting for the Department of Social Sciences within the Social Sciences Group. Your tasks will be in the areas of financial control, business control and operational management. You will advise management with regard to the policy to be pursued and discuss the financial and economic consequences of this policy with them. You will translate the distribution of central resources to decentralised departments, contributing ideas for solutions, whilst being aware of the framework of requirements and conditions in which this must be done.
You have at least 5 years of relevant work experience. Experience gained within an educational environment and with complex (project) administration as well as risk control management will be an advantage. Your style of working is analytical and energetic. You are a strong communicator who is able to provide advice at different levels, using different advisory styles where necessary. In this position you will have a high degree of responsibility and independence. You work well with highly educated professionals. You do not only work closely with your colleagues at F&C, but also with HR and management assistants, thus contributing to integral control aimed at achieving the organisation’s objectives. You like to participate in work groups and change processes. As you will act as a ‘linking pin’, it is essential that you are able to work both independently and as part of a team.
You have a background in financial and economic analysis and a high level of professional and intellectual ability (higher professional or university education). You have extensive experience with financial control / accounting, project administration and education funding. You have a good knowledge of Dutch financial reporting rules. You also have long-term experience in the areas of budgeting, accounting, dealing with business/economic issues and business control. You like to work for a socially relevant organisation and you communicate well in both Dutch and English. As we work in an increasingly international environment and value inclusiveness, you should feel at home in an organisation whose core values are reliability, development and cooperation.
A challenging job with plenty of room for personal development. This is a permanent position; initially, you will work on a one-year contract. Your salary will be based on the Collective Labour Agreement of Wageningen Research and will be between €3,380 and €4,847 (salary scale 11), depending on knowledge and experience. We offer plenty of opportunities for further training and development and attractive employee benefits. This is a full-time position with a 36-hour working week (a 32-hour week is negotiable).
