We are looking for

Within the Chair group of Applied Statistics we have a vacancy for an lecturer in Applied Statistics. We search for someone who is an enthusiastic, skillful and stimulating lecturer as well as a coach in working groups and computer practicals. Your primary task lies in lecturing basic and more advanced statistics to students in all disciplines of Wageningen University. Your main responsibility is to contribute to the teaching and examining of existing courses in statistics at bachelor’s, master’s and PhD levels in a highly internationalised context. You are expected to contribute to the course evaluation, and to the improvement and/or renewal of courses, in collaboration with colleagues within Biometris.

The ideal candidate

  • has completed a PhD in the area of statistics, mathematics or quantitative biology;
  • is an enthusiastic lecturer, who likes to teach statistics to (international) students in a broad range of disciplines;
  • is a team-player who appreciates an international working and learning environment;
  • has good communication skills, both with students and colleagues;
  • is fluent in the Dutch and English language.

This is a part time position (0.8 FTE), lecturer scale 3, Hayscale. The gross salary ranges from €3.427,- to € 4.691,- (Scale 11 VSNU) based on full time, i.e. 38 hours/week, depending on qualities and experience. We offer a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-the-year bonus of 8.3% of your annual salary.

Biometris is the central group for mathematics and statistics at Wageningen University and Research Centre. The group consists of about 75 people, 50 permanent staff and 25 PhDs and postdocs. Education and consultation are pivotal for the societal role of Biometris. Education is at the very heart of the university and Biometris provides all BSc courses on statistics, mathematics and research methodology at Wageningen UR, as well as numerous other courses for MSc and PhD students, post-docs and industry. Biometris also provides statistical and mathematical consultancy and training to researchers inside and outside Wageningen UR.

Within Biometris we focus our research on the development of mathematical and statistical techniques that can be applied to the Life Sciences.
