Wageningen University is a top class university, ranking among the world’s leading institutions in the food, agri and environmental domains. We are looking for an assistant professor (in tenure track) to develop the topic of e-marketing for healthy, sustainable consumer food choice within our the Marketing and Consumer Behaviour group. Our group is unique in not only making essential theoretical contributions in the top journals of multiple research fields such as Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Agricultural Economics, Food Sciences, and Psychology, but it also emphasizes social impact of research (“Science for Impact”, see www.wur.nl).
We invite candidates to apply who have the ambition to make scientific and societal impactful contributions to the field of healthy consumer choice in close collaboration with researchers from other disciplines and universities. You will be responsible for the organisation, implementation and coordination of new research and education activities in the field of e-marketing of healthy, sustainable food. In the offered tenure track position you will develop a research program aiming to build a leading international position. You are expected and supported in generating funding for your future research through proposal writing, both individually, with colleagues in the field, and with interdisciplinary colleagues.
This position is part of the interdisciplinary programme “Pride & Prejudice - Tackling chronic disease prevention through real-life monitoring and context-aware intervention design”, which is financially supported by the 4TU federation (see https://www.4tu.nl/en/news/!/84378/awarding_hightech/). Central to the Pride & Prejudice programme is the combination of monitoring in real-life through sensors (food intake, physical activity and health parameters) with development of design interventions at different levels of the system including the individual consumer, and evaluation of the (long-term) effectiveness of these combined interventions. The ambition is that after the initial project period a lasting collaboration has been formed, of which the successful candidate will be our representative.
In your teaching you will be motivating and teaching students in various educational programs in existing courses and courses that you develop on your own topic. You will be involved in the supervision of thesis projects at the BSc, MSc level. You will also be given the opportunity to supervise PhD candidates. To ensure teaching quality, Wageningen University expects lecturers to hold or complete the Dutch nationally recognised University Teaching Qualification, and offers a training program to achieve it.
We are looking for a new colleague who would fit in our team. This means you are a teamplayer who is motivated to advance the group’s research and education as well as your own research and education and who is eager to make a scientific and societal contribution. The Marketing and Consumer Behaviour group is a cohesive team that consists of hardworking, collaborative, and inspired marketing and consumer behaviour scientists.
We are looking for a candidate who has/is:
• A PhD in consumer behaviour, human technology interaction or related field.
• Proven ability to publish in international peer reviewed journals.
• Ambition to research healthy food choice by consumers.
• Prior experience in lecturing, running tutorials and thesis supervision is appreciated.
• Motivated to collaborate with interdisciplinary partners both within Wageningen, the 4TU federation and beyond.
A challenging career trajectory called tenure track. From the position of Assistant Professor you can eventually grow into the position of a Professor holding a Personal Chair. Of course training and coaching are provided and interdisciplinary (international) cooperation is stimulated. You will also be given the chance to build up your own research line.
We offer you a temporary contract for seven years (0.8 – 1.0 fte), which can lead to a permanent employment contract. Gross year salary ranging from € 49,000 up to € 67,500 (Scale 11 CAO Dutch Universities), based on a full time employment and dependent on expertise and experience. This includes 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
