Your job

We are looking for an educational trainer & advisor. Together with a team of colleagues, you will contribute to the professional development of educational staff at Wageningen University. The continuous professional development of teachers empowers them to create high quality educational experiences, explore and develop innovative teaching practices, and implement the university’s vision for education.  As a trainer and advisor to the educators, you can play a key role in their professionalization and inspire them to provide high quality education at Wageningen University.

As a trainer and advisor, you will be responsible for providing teacher training in Supervision, Teaching, Design, and Assessment, which contributes towards the learning of our teachers within the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ).  You will also contribute to the further development of the continuous professional development framework in alignment with the vision on education and the priorities of the Teaching and Learning Centre. We expect that you are creative and you balance your creativity with project management skills in the development and quality management of courses, workshops, and resources for teacher professionalization.

You will, as an educational trainer and advisor, contribute to teacher professionalization as part of the Teaching and Learning Centre.  You will be responsible for providing trainings through the UTQ and other areas of professional focus, coaching participants through professionalization trajectories, and contributing to alignment and further development of continuous professional development for educators at Wageningen University.
Your duties and responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and delivering trainings in supervision, assessment, design, and teaching,
  • Coaching teachers through professional development trajectories,
  • Assessing and providing feedback for teachers in professionalization trajectories,
  • Developing further resources for teacher professionalization.             
You will work with a team of educational trainers and advisors as part of a smaller team within the larger Teaching and Learning Centre.  Additionally, you will collaborate with other teams that include instructional designers, project managers, content experts, and other educationally focused colleagues through integrated and shared projects and services.

Your qualities

You have a passion for education and the development of teaching professionals in higher education. You have clear communication abilities, are able to engage with a variety of stakeholders, possess intercultural sensitivity, and are a solution-oriented team player.

You also possess:

  • A relevant MSc degree in the field of Educational or pedagogical sciences or similar;
  • A record in the development, coordination, and delivery of didactical training of teachers in higher education (preferred);
  • Knowledge of theories, methods, structures, and preferably knowledge and experience in communication models, theories, and best practices;
  • Experience with assessment in higher education is preferred;
  • The ability to self-organize and take the lead in our own work.
In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English and our professional development for teachers is provided in English as our shared language. For this position we require a proficiency of C2 in English and, if you do not speak Dutch, a willingness to follow Dutch language courses is preferred.

Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between € 4,537 and € 6,209 for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 11). Additionally, a contract for 0.8 FTE can be discussed. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended - if possible within (company) organizational circumstances - on good performance.
