We are looking for

This position will be within our team trainers and advisors. You have a passion for didactical (pedagogical) development of teachers within higher education. You develop and provide teacher training in educational design which contributes towards the learning of our teachers within the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ).  You are creative and you balance your creativity with project management skills in terms of design labs for education. In your training and advising, you inspire and facilitate teachers to develop themselves as professional teachers of Wageningen University.

In addition to the training/advising you like to advise teachers and teaching teams in the development and implementation of innovative learning environments. In doing so, you support the implementation of the University’s vision for education: offering high quality scientific knowledge in a rich learning environment, activating and engaging students in their personalised, flexible and continuous learning process. 

We ask

You are a professional with:

  • A passion for education with preferably a relevant MSc-degree in the field of Educational or pedagogical sciences, OR similar;
  • Knowledge of educational design and design methods, such as storyboarding (Carpe Diem), and the ability to guide and facilitate (teams of) teachers throughout the design process.  Preferably a record in the development, coordination and delivery of didactical training of teachers in higher education;
  • Knowledge of advice, development and implementation of educational improvements and innovations in higher education curricula/programmes;
  • Excellent communication and consultancy skills, enabling you to give well-founded advice to teachers and staff and to work in a heterogeneous team of academic and technical experts,
  • An ability to work agile, with deadlines and a stress resistant attitude;
  • Excellent proficiency in English (C2), if you do not speak Dutch, a willingness to follow Dutch language courses is preferred;
  • An affinity with the Wageningen domains of environment and life sciences is a plus;
  • Competences:  clear communicative abilities, able to deal with different stakeholders, intercultural sensitivity, assertive, solution oriented, team player, creative and curious.
You will be working in a dynamic educational organisation that constantly seeks innovative (IT) tools, pedagogical approaches and activities for its stakeholders and for our own development. In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between € 3.974 and € 5.439 for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 11). This position concerns an eventually permanent positions, starting with a one-year contract with a possibility to extend.

Education and Student Affairs
‘Education and Student Affairs’ (ESA) is – as central department in Wageningen University and Research – responsible for the strategy, the implementation as well as the support for and innovation of its education. The department matches supply and demand in education, is responsible for all the administrative processes, guarantees the quality of its education and develops and implements the university’s vision for education. In addition to its accredited educational BSc and MSc programmes, ESA initiates and develops new educational activities, including an online education portfolio and professional education. More than 200 employees work at the department of Education and Student Affairs. Since 15 years, Wageningen University and Research has a leading position in the Netherlands for its quality education and education facilities.

The Education Support Centre
As part of ESA, the Education Support Centre (ESC), aims at optimising learning and teaching and educational innovations at our university. ESC seeks to inspire lecturers, facilitate and support their teaching and the education environment and finally to enhance lecturers’ professional teaching competences. The Education Support Centre employs around 80 staff members (70 fte) in 7 teams:

Firstly, the centre offers pedagogical advice and educational training, workshops and courses, such as the University Teaching Qualification; (Basis Kwalificatie Onderwijs). Secondly, the centre supports the development and implementation of open and online education. Thirdly, it offers functional management of the digital learning environment (Brightspace) and new IT applications in education. Furthermore, the centre is responsible for supporting multimedia applications (knowledge clips, weblectures, excursion apps) and the fifth team is responsible for all the digital assessments in education. The sixth team stimulates and organises real life cases in education offered by societal partners (from business, governmental-, to civil society organisations). Finally, the seventh team is the Education Support Service Desk, responsible for the communication on support to teachers, including intranet, manuals, workshops and an helpdesk.
